Evelyn Jean Colebrook (nee Wawrin), 75, of Vermilion, died Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic, Avon after a 3 month illness. Evelyn acquired a very aggressive and rapidly progressing form of lung cancer that quickly metastasized. She was born February 26, 1942 in Revenna, OH. She graduated from James A Garfield High School, Garrettsville and received her nursing training and degree from St. Luke's Hospital, Cleveland. She then worked as an RN for St. Luke's Hospital and Babies and Children's Hospital in Columbus. Evelyn moved to Vermilion in 1969 where she resided for the past 48 years. She enjoyed boating, especially cruising the Great Lakes with friends, gardening, sewing, and stain glass work. Evelyn also enjoyed playing the French Horn in the Vermilion Community Music Association Band. She was a board member and the librarian for the band and chairman of the annual fundraising Valentine dance. Evelyn was very proud that she completed the 70 mile TASSEL (Tour Along the South Shore of Lake Erie) charity fund raising cross country bike ride for 10 consecutive years. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Roger Colebrook, DDS of Vermilion; son, Scott (Kimberly) Colebrook of Cincinnati; and her grandchildren, Colin and Carter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Magdalene (nee Martinkus) Wawrin. Services will be held Monday, May 1, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH. Pastor James Peter will officiate. Immediately following the service, visitation will take place until 2:00 pm. Private graveside services will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
