Evelyn L. Maurer

Evelyn L. Maurer (nee Stokes), 92, of Vermilion, Ohio died Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Stein Hospice, Sandusky, Ohio. Evelyn was born July 13, 1918 in Dover Center, Ohio (now Westlake). Evelyn was a 1937 graduate of Vermilion High School, an 85 year member of the Vermilion Evangelical & Reformed Church and a member of Madeline Chapter #204, O. E. S. of Vermilion. Survivors include sons, Raymond "Jim" (Ellen) Maurer II of Milan and Thomas F. (Debby) Maurer of Vermilion; grandchildren, Margaret Bleile, Melissa Kitts, Emily Abazi, Jason Maurer, Matthew Maurer and 11 great-grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Raymond E. in 1995, parents Floyd E. (1963) and Leola B. (1962) (nee Fenstermaker) Stokes, and a sister, Berdena M. Klaar in 1978. At Evelyn's request, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Private graveside services will be held at Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion, Ohio. Pastor Nick Cacciatore will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions in memory of Evelyn be given to the Sanctuary Painting Fund of the E & R Church, 752 Grand Street, Vermilion, Ohio, 44089 or to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
