Evelyn I. Parsons (nee Hazen) ,87, of Vermilion, died Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Hospice of Western Reserve in Westlake after a short illness. Evelyn was born May 19, 1926 in Ashland. She graduated from Bellville High School and worked as a bookkeeper for Geyers Markets, Inc. for 25 years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Vermilion. She enjoyed Linwood Park, cooking, sewing, traveling, camping, and spending time with her family. She is survived by children, Bradley Parsons of Lakewood, Laura Federinko (Gerald) of Oberlin, and Iva Turnbull (Bill) of Wakeman; brother, Robert Hazen of Camrose, Alberta, Canada; grandchildren, Shannon (Toby) Viets, Elisabeth Parsons, Kenyon Parsons; 3 great grandchildren, and niece Sharon Hazen. She was preceded in death by her parents, John M. and Anna (nee Terry) Hazen; husband, Richard W. Parsons, Aug. 4, 2013, and brothers, Harold, Glenn and Charles Hazen. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 1st from 4-7 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. A private interment will be at Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield, Ohio at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Hospice of the Western Reserve Contributions, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44110-9915.
