Farrell James "Jim" Finnegan, 79, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Stonerise Morgantown Nursing Home, Morgantown, WV, after a lengthy illness. He was born November 12, 1942 in Amherst, OH and had been a Vermilion resident since 1988 moving from Henrietta Township, He most recently resided in Morgantown, WV. Jim was a veteran of the United States Navy. He graduated from Firelands High School in 1961. He owned and operated the Elberta Inn in Vermilion for 11 years . He was a member of South Amherst First United Methodist Church, Vermilion AMVETS Post #22; VFW Post 7576 and American Legion Post #397. He enjoyed taking care of his immaculate yard, flowers and garden and spent time riding his John Deere tractor. Above all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Kerry Ann (Robert) Raber of Morgantown, WV; step daughters, Tammi Baker, Kim Clark, and Dana Ingram all of Vermilion; grandchildren, Zachary (Megan) Johnson, Jordan (Heather) Raber, Madison Raber, Amy (Ralph) Scott , Caralise (James) Bunn, AJ Baker, RJ (Michael) Ingram and Andy (Lucy) Ingram; 9 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Michael H (Susan) Finnegan of Berlin Heights, OH, and Patrick W. (Carol) Finnegan of Henrietta Twp, OH, and his sister, Mary (Gerald Burrer) Rennie of Henrietta, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriett Ann (nee Higgins) Finnegan, and his parents, Farrell John and Gertrude Anna (nee McQueen) Finnegan. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 1 pm until the time of the service at 4 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Reverend Melvin Sayler will officiate and the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors. Burial will take place at a later date at the Western Reserve National Cemetery, Ritman, Ohio. The family suggests memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church of South Amherst, 201 W.
