Florence M. Frost (nee Pinkney), 97, of Elyria, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Wesleyan Village after a lengthy illness. She was born March 14, 1920 in Collinwood, OH. Flo's younger years were spent close to Euclid Beach where she loved swimming and dancing to the music of the Big Bands. She met Chuck Stuehringer, the love of her life. They married November 15, 1941. Flo worked several jobs, but was most notably employed by Hoover's in North Canton. Flo enjoyed playing and winning at poker and board games with family and friends. "Bingo" was a favorite coin phrase. Flo enjoyed bowling in later years. She was an avid and loyal fan of "everything Cleveland" and regularly followed the Indians, Cavs, and the Browns. She was a devout Catholic and her faith sustained her through life's losses, struggles, as well as many blessings of family and friends. Flo is survived by her son, James (Joyce) Stuehringer; daughter, Frances Cummings; grandchildren, Lisa, Kathryn, and Craig; niece, Jan Nied; nephews, Dave and Tom Koons; stepson, Bruce (Lori) Frost, and dear friend, Barb Knapp. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Florence (nee Hewiett) Pinkney; sister, Doris Koons; brothers, Hewitt and Harold Pinkney; first husband, Charles Stuehringer in 1963; second husband, Gerald Burandt in 1970; third husband, William Frost in 1993; and beloved son in law, James Cummings. Flo's family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. M. Eren, the staff of Wesleyan Village assisted living, most recently the 3rd floor skilled care for their compassionate loving care. The Hospice of the Western Reserve offered individualized comfort care, support, and friendship. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 9:00 am until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary Church, 309 7th Street, Lorain, OH. Reverend Daniel Divis will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Massillon, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wesleyan village, 807 West Ave., Elyria or Hospice of the Western Reserve, 2173 N. Ridge Rd.
