Florence E. Kropf (nee Schmitz), 87, of Vermilion Twp. , died Thursday, June 29, 2006 at the Inn at Chappel Creek after a lengthy illness. She was born August 29, 1918 in Amherst, Ohio. She has been a Vermilion Township resident since 1971 moving from Amherst. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion and former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst. She was a graduate of Amherst High School class of 1936. She enjoyed canning, crocheting, cooking, painting, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert L. Kropf, Sr.; son, Robert Kropf, Jr. of Vermilion; daughter, Kathryn Sherrard of Hedgesville, WV; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a sister, Agnes Kishman of Vermilion Twp. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Elizabeth (nee Bischoff) Schmitz, son, Richard James in 1950; 5 brothers: Henry, Albert, Elmer, Walter and Arthur Schmitz; and 3 sisters: Cecelia, Mildred and Dorothy Schmitz. Friends may call Sunday, July 2, 2006 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 8:30 p.m. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Monday, July 3, 2006 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 am St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, with the Reverend Jim Holmer, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Contributions may be made to the St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, Ohio 44089.
