Floyd Stanford

Floyd A. Stanford, 78 of Vermilion, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 at Hospice of the Ozarks, Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born June 11, 1929 in Amory, Mississippi and had lived in Vermilion since 1958 moving from West Memphis, Arkansas. He moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas in April 2007. He worked as a power tool engineer for Ford Motor Co. , Lorain, retiring in 1980. He also owned Crystal Shore Apartments, East, and many other properties in Vermilion. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, Vermilion. Mr. Stanford had his private pilots license and enjoyed flying. He also enjoyed boating, fishing, woodworking, and making toys for his great-grandchildren. Survivors include his son, Perry "Pete" Stanford (Debi) of Goshen, OH; daughter, Teresa Stanford (Roscoe Schlachter) of Independence, OH ; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers, Thomas E. Stanford of Grenada, Miss., James Stanford of Memphis, Tenn . , Gene Stanford of Elkgrove, ILL, Daryl Stanford of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Mike Stanford of Mountain Home, Arkansas; 6 sisters, June Cannon of Memphis , Tenn.., Doris Johnson of West Memphis, Arkansas, Joyce Fulco , of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Donna Janowitz of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Sarah McKee of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Tina Barajas of Elkgrove, Illinois. Preceding him in death were his wife, Betty, January 18, 2007; parents, Jesse and Ethelene (nee Williams) Stanford; brother, Herbert Stanford, and sister, Ann Stanford. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at 1 pm until the time of service at 3 pm at the Kirby and Family Funeral Home, 600 Hospital Drive, Mountain Home, Arkansas. Friends may also call Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Funeral services will be held at the funeral Home Monday at 10 a.m. with Reverend Guy Morton of the Lakeview Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
