Frances J. Montalto, age 85, of Lorain, died Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center in Lorain following a sudden illness. She was born on December 9, 1918 in Lorain and has been a lifelong resident. She worked as a payroll clerk for the former St. Joseph Hospital for 44 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Catholic Church of St. Peter and a graduate of Lorain High School Class of 1936 B. Frances was a member of the SOH Club (Lorain), LESCOT, and Knights of St. John Auxiliary Drill Team. She was also an avid animal lover. Survivors include a brother, Joseph Montalto of Lorain; sisters, Grace Rinaldi of Hawthorne, California and Joan Plumb of Orlando, Florida; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and special friend Albert Bodmann. Preceding her in death were her parents, Fred and Frances (nee Rosso) Montalto. The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm on Sunday, December 28, 2003, at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 9:30 am on Monday, December 29, 2003, followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Kenneth Wolnowski will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pyle Road & Middle Ridge Road, Amherst, OH 44001.
