Francey Arlene Green

Francey Alene Green (née Smith), 78, of Berlin Heights, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Stein Hospice in Sandusky after a lengthy illness.

Born on July 3, 1947, in Defiance, OH, Francey made Berlin Heights her home for the past 37 years after moving from Vermilion.

Francey dedicated her career to education, first teaching 4th grade in the Sheffield and Sheffield Lake Schools and later serving as a Special Education teacher in Amherst. She retired in 2004 after 30 years of guiding, encouraging, and advocating for her students.

She enjoyed golfing, reading, gardening, and spending time with her family—especially her granddaughter. Francey loved the outdoors, particularly her own yard, which was proudly designated as a wildlife sanctuary.

Francey is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard Green of Berlin Heights; son, Douglas Green of Berlin Heights; granddaughter, Mara Green; siblings, Steve (Carol) Smith of Findlay, Greg (Dawn) Smith of Midland, MI, Suzanne Smith of Perrysburg, and Karen (Lee) Russell of Mansfield.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael Richard Green, whose memory remained a profound influence throughout her life, as well as her parents, Charles Eugene and Hermina (née Plassman) Smith.

Private graveside services will be held at Brownhelm Cemetery.
