Frank H. Mehring

Frank H. Mehring, age 65, of Lorain, died suddenly on Saturday, January 10, 2004 at the Aristocrat Berea Nursing Home following a several month illness. He was born on February 28, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio and has lived in Lorain most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a tow motor operator in the bar mill at the US Steel Plant in Lorain for 22 years. He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain and its Holy Name Society. He was a union member of the US Steel Local 1104, was active in the lives of his children and grandchildren, especially as a soccor coach for his daughter while enrolled in the Amherst School system and in other various sporting and band activities. He enjoyed bowling and was also an old movie buff. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Nancy Mehring (nee Jezewski); Son, Gregory Mehring of Lorain; Daughter, Stacey Mehring of Lorain; Grandchildren, Angeleah and Skylar Mehring; Sister, Joanne Owens of Lorain; Step-Brother, Kenneth Bohach of Gallion; Half-Sister, Jeanne Peak of Vermilion. Preceding him in death were his parents, Joseph and Mildred (nee Mehring) Bohach and a step-brother, Joel. Friends may call Tuesday, January 13, 2004 from 5-9pm at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 9:30am on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 followed by a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Ave, Lorain. The Reverend Robert J. Glepko will be the Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary' s Catholic Cemetery, Elyria.
