Freddy J. Weaver, 83, of Amherst, passed away on March 1 after a lengthy illness.
Born on June 7, 1941, in Levelland, Texas, Fred was a longtime resident of Amherst, having moved there 35 years ago from Vermilion. He was a proud graduate of Texas Tech University and then had a lifelong career as an accountant for Ford Motor Company in Texas, Michigan and Lorain.
Fred had a passion for cars, especially drag racing. He loved building engines and had a special affinity for Mustangs. Beyond his love for cars, he cherished spending time with his family, particularly attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was a past member of Delaware Avenue United Methodist Church in Lorain.
He is survived by his son, Fred M. (Wendy) Weaver of Elyria; daughters, Karen (Mike) Rosera of Verona, WI, Helen Traylor of Medina, and Kathy (Randy Spencer) Weaver of Avon; grandchildren, Krystalyn, Bradly, Bryan, Katelynn, Madeline, Delaney, Emili, Jeffrey, and Megan; great grandchildren, Colin and Elizabeth; and his brother, Woodrow "Woody" (Cheryl) Weaver of Tyler, TX.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Yvonne "June" (née Keys) Weaver; his twin brother, Teddy Weaver; and his granddaughter, Tiffani.
Family and friends will be received on March 5 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Vermilion.
