Gail S. Ferry (née Stevens), 82, of Vermilion, passed away Friday, May 29, 2026, at Mill Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
She was born February 22, 1944, in Grassy Meadows, West Virginia, and had been a resident of Vermilion for the past 59 years after moving from West Virginia.
Gail began her career as a proofreader for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C., and Cleveland. She later worked at the License Bureau and Drug Mart in Vermilion.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Vermilion. Gail enjoyed knitting, gardening, reading, macramé, and various handcrafts.
She is survived by her sons, Brian (Polly) Ferry of Vermilion and Kevin (Jennifer Stein) Ferry of Akron; grandchildren, Roselynne Ferry and Garon Ferry; great-granddaughter, Serena Rae Ritz; and sister, Edna Witt of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Ferry; her parents, Leonard Emons and Margaret Dolores (née Buckland) Stevens; and her brothers, Charles, Lloyd, Samuel, Fred, and Winnie Stevens.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Inurnment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville at a later date.
The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
