Garland Rhodes

Garland H. "Bo" Rhodes, 84, of Vermilion, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Mercy New Life Hospice following a brief illness.

Born on February 29, 1940, in Dayton, TN, Bo had been a resident of Vermilion for the past 22 years, having previously lived in Sheffield.

Bo proudly served in the US Army with the 82nd Airborne Division.

During his youth, Bo worked as a switchboard operator before joining Ford Motor Co., Lorain, where he dedicated 32 years of service, both as a supervisor and on the line, retiring in 1992. Additionally, Bo held a license as a Charter Boat Captain and cherished his time navigating his boat, Magic Moments, on Lake Erie.

A life member of AMVETS Post #22, Bo found joy in fishing, hunting, and sharing coffee with his close friend Joe. He also had a passion for motorcycle racing, achieving national rankings during his active years.

Bo is survived by his son, Ronnie Rhodes, daughter, Linda Sue Rhodes, and granddaughter, Adrian. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda (nee Whitcomb) Rhodes in 2023, his parents, Doc and Hazel (nee Cox) Rhodes, and his granddaughter, Samantha.

Private family services will be held.

The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
