Gary Alan Ray

Gary Alan Ray, 54, of Olmsted Falls, passed away Monday, November 28, 2016 at his residence. Gary was born April 6, 1962 in Cleveland, OH and lived in Vermilion before moving to Olmsted Falls. He graduated from Vermilion High School and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Gary worked for American Greetings as a lettering artist for the past 29 years. His artwork enhanced thousands of greeting cards created by American Greetings. Not only was he an accomplished artist, but Gary also had a great love for the guitar. For those who were fortunate enough to hear him play, it can be said he was a true master of the instrument. Many will fondly remember Gar as one of the founders of "The Ray Boys" - a group of friends who loved to camp, sing, eat, and just enjoy each other's company.So many fun memories are associated with that group. Gary is survived by his brother, Donald Ray of Elyria, OH.He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mary (nee Neundorfer) Ray. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 10:00 am at Community of Hope Lutheran Church, 4470 Oakes Rd., Brecksville, OH 44141. In lieu of flowers, of the family will be setting up a memorial scholarship to help a young person further their dream of continuing education. More details will be shared at the Celebration of Life.
