Gary L Windom, 71, of Vermilion, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a lengthy illness. He was born November 10, 1941 in Parkersburg, WV, and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 32 years. Gary was a veteran of the US Army and worked as an engineer and x-ray technician at Nuclear Power Plants across the country for Pullman Kellogg. He was a member of the American Legion Post #397, and enjoyed metal detecting, coin collecting, camping, fishing, bow hunting, and model airplanes. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marjorie (nee Parsons) Windom of Vermilion; daughter, Tonya (Jeff) Bongalis; sons, Mitchell Windom of Vermilion and Gary (Heather) Windom of Vermilion; grandchildren: Dustin, Christopher, Megan, Lauren, Nicole, Colby, and Marley; and sisters, Karen Wellman, Vicki Berecz, and Virgie Henderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clero Melton and Helen (neeWelling) Windom and infant daughter, Betty Jo Windom. Private services will be held at a later date.
