Geneva A. Rooy

Geneva A. Rooy (nee Cook), 98 of Vermilion , died Friday, February 1, 2008 in Mill Manor Nursing Home, Vermilion. She was born December 28, 1909 in Cleveland, OH and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 31 years moving from Richfield. She had worked for Goodyear Aircraft, Akron as a riveter during WWII and had also worked as a nurse's aid for Good Samaritan Hospital, Sandusky. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Vermilion. She had been a member of the Madeleine Chapter of Eastern Star # 204. She loved to cook, play the piano and organ; and loved to have everyone as a part of her family. Survivors include her daughters, Virginia Lee "Ginny" Schmidt of Vermilion and Anne Corinne Taylor of Hollywood , FL; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Lahr of Medina, OH. Preceding her in death were her husband William Herman Rooy in 1954; parents, John and Lula (nee Lindley) Cook; daughter, Lucille Ruth Brown in 1994; grandson, Randy Kim Brown in 1984; sisters, Lelia Bannatine, Neota Bennett, and Esther Hunt; and brothers, Clarence Cook and Clayton Cook. There will be a memorial service Friday, Feb. 8, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Church of the Nazarene, 14907 Kneisel Rd. Vermilion, OH with Rev. David Johnson officiating.
