George Goswick, 85 of Vermilion, died Monday, February 5, 2007 in Stein Hospice in Sandusky after a lengthy illness with Alzheimers Disease. He was born October 11, 1921 in Connellsville, PA, moving to Vermilion in 1947. He worked as a burner for American Ship, Lorain retiring after 30 years in 1982. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Italy, France and Africa during WWII. He recieved the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, 6 Bronze Stars and one Bronze Arrowhead. Mr. Goswick was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion; and the VFW #7576. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, hunting, traveling, chopping wood, and traveling. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Margaret Goswick (nee Mass); sons: George Goswick of Chesapeake, VA and Glen Goswick of Amherst; daughter, Kathy Grote of Vermilion Twp., 6 grandchildren; brothers: Phillip D. Keefer of Las Vegas, NV, Kenneth B. Keefer of Dickerson Run, PA, and Anthony W. Keefer of Connellsville, PA; sisters: Sally Kerkel of , FL and Linda C. Foster of , FL. Preceding him in death were his mother, Iva Mae Keefer, son, Donald Goswick, brothers: Roy Goswick, Harold "Jack" David, John Keefer, and Rudolph Keefer, and sisters: Sylvia J. Fox, and Virginia Keefer. Friends may call Thursday, February 8, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Vermilion Vetrans Council will conduct military honors at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Friday, Feb. 9, 2007 at 11:30 a.m., with Reverend Jim Holmer officiating.
