George Lamarche

November 30, 1933 — January 16, 2009

George LaMarche, 75 of Vermilion , died Friday, January 16, 2009 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born November 30, 1933 in Phillipsburg, Pennsylvania and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 44 years. He had also lived in Orrville for a few years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War 1950- 1958. During his enlistment, he played soccer for the United Nations All-StarTeam, playing in 37 countries. George worked as a consultant for TI Automotive from 1997 until this past year. He had previously worked at the Ford Automotive Plant in Lorain for many years, as well as for Pittsburgh Consolidated Coal and at the Crown Steel Company in Orrville as a superintendent He was a member of the Ely Mason Lodge #424, P. B. Morgan #233, 32nd DegreeScottich Rite Valley of CLeveland, AL Koran Shrine of Cleveland, and American Legion Post # 395. George was passionate about his children, grandchildren and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth (nee Shook) LaMarche, daughters, Suzette LaMarche of South Amherst, Tracy (Sam) Lewis of Vermilion and Sara (Mark) Tidwell of Vermilion; and his grandchildren, Kristina and Malissia Barley, Mason and David Lewis and Grace and Faith Tidwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Rosella (nee Gobidas) LaMarche and a sister, Jeanean Kemp. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 19, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio, where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at 7 pm and a Ely Masonic Lodge will conduct a Mason Service will be at 7:30 pm. Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
