George Paul Takacs, 73 of Lorain, died Thursday, August 7, 2008 after a sudden illness in Community Health Partners, Lorain. He was born December 14, 1934 in Lorain, OH and has been a Lorain resident for the past 51 years, moving from Elyria. He graduated in 1952 from Elyria High School and served in the US Marines during the Korean War. George worked for 30 years as a Meat Cutter and retired from Topps Grocery Store, Lorain in 1992. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Lorain. He enjoyed reading and sports. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching their sporting events.. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Rosa Takacs; son, Victor (Stephanie) Takacs of Lorain; daughter, Sherry Takacs of Lorain; grandchildren, Nicholas and Allison Takacs and brother, Joseph Takacs of Elyria, OH. Preceding him in death were his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Diosy) Takacs, and a brother, Richard Takacs. Friends may call Sunday, August 10, 2008 from 2-5 pm at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Monday August 11, 2008 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the St. Mary Church, 309 7th St., Lorain, Ohio 44052 with Father Daniel Divis officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain where the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 20 will provide military honors.
