Georgene Agnes Cooper (nee Horning), 74, of Vermilion was surrounded by family when she went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, March 21, 2012 after a lengthy illness. She was born April 30, 1937 in Lakewood, and had been a Vermilion resident most of her life. Georgene worked for the Vermilion Schools as a custodian for 19 years retiring in 2003. She was a member of Harbourtown Community Church, Vermilion and the Ohio Public School Employees Union. Georgene enjoyed crafts, crocheting, camping and she especially enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, W.C. Cooper; sons, Richard (Lisa) Cooper of Berlin Heights and Lowell ( Lynn) Cooper of Waynesboro, Virginia; daughter, Elizabeth (Dave) Henderson of Vermilion; daughter-in-law, Linda Cooper of Baytown, TX; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Janis Cooper of Amherst and Judy Horner of Vermilion; brothers, Arthur Horning of Vermilion and Thomas Horning of Vermilion, and many nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ruth (nee Webb) Horning; son Gary Cooper, and brothers Howard and William Horning. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 25, 2012 from 4-7 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Friends may also call on Monday, March 26, 2012 from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am at Harbourtown Community Church, 873 State Street, Vermilion. Reverend Jim Cooper will be officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
