Georgine M. "Jean" Davis (nee McKee), 87, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at her home after a three year illness. She was born June 1, 1921 in Rockwood, TN. She lived in Memphis until moving to Amherst in 1959. She has been a Vermilion resident since 1962. She devoted most of her life to her family, but during World War II worked at Fisher Aircraft as a riveter. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Vermilion. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, reading, crossword puzzles and playing bunco. She is survived by her daughter, Bobbye (Garry) Goodwin of Cato, New York, 7 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank W. Davis on March 1, 1983; her parents, Alice (nee Carroway) and John McKee, a daughter, Rhonda Conner in 1993, 5 sisters, and 2 brothers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 17, 2008 from 1 pm until the time of a funeral service at 3 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. The Reverend Donald Resecker, pastor of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Memphis National Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee on Tuesday, August 19, 2008.
