Gerald T. Majjasie, 71 of Lorain, died Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a lengthy illness. He was born June 28, 1938 in Lorain and has been a lifelong resident. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. Gerald worked for 10 years at the Ford Motor Company in Lorain and for 30 years at BF Goodrich in Avon Lake. He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain. Gerald coached Little League Baseball for several years, enjoyed fishing, hunting and gambling and especially enjoyed being able to play with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Carole (nee Kapron) Majjasie of Lorain; daughters, Carleen (Terry) Wohlever of Las Vegas, NV, Lynne (Dave) Popik of Lorain, Kris (Scott) Campana of Lorain and Cherie (Mike) Matos of Amherst; son, Jerry (Nicole) Majjasie of Amherst; grandchildren, Jackie and TJ Wohlever, David and Christopher Popik, Vincent, Talia, Liza and Gia Campana, Brittany and Jerry Majjasie and Sophie, CJ and Sean Matos; brothers, Robert (Mary Ann) Majjasie of Lorain and William (Jean) Majjasie of Elyria. He was preceded-in-death by his parents, Steven and Madeline (nee Carey) Majjasie. Friends may call on Monday, December 21, 2009 from 4-8 pm at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Closing prayers will be said on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain. Reverend Robert J. Glepko, pastor and Deacon Robert Dybo will be the celebrants. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
