Gerald "Jerry " "Rat" Radase, 90, of Vermilion, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Mill Manor Nursing Home following a brief illness.
Born on October 18, 1935, in Lorain, OH, Jerry spent most of his life in Vermilion. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War as a sharpshooter and radio operator.
Jerry was employed by Ford Motor Company in Lorain, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service.
He was a life member of AMVETS Post 22. An avid bowler and enthusiastic outdoorsman, Jerry enjoyed boating and owned several boats over the years. He loved traveling, especially his memorable trip along Route 66 with his buddies. He also took great pleasure in buying and selling at flea markets.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Christine (James) Szabo of Vermilion; his son, Gerald Radase Jr. of Lorain; grandchildren, Zachary, Courtney, and Justin; six great-grandchildren; and his longtime friend Bob (Laurel) Vigg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward W. and Theresa A. (née Dorinski) Radase, and his daughter, Michelle McGinnis.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025 at 12:00 noon at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Avon, where Military Honors will be presented.
