Geraldine E. Wilkes

Vermilion - Geraldine "Gerry" E Wilkes (nee Johnson), 99, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006 in Mill Manor Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness. She was born July 4, 1906 in Ashtabula, Ohio. She has been a Vermilion resident for the 76 years. She was one of the oldest members of the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church, where she was a member of the " Over 60" group. She was a former member of the Merry Makers and Queen Ester Class. She as also a member of AARP. She is survived by her son, David and his wife Ginny Wilkes of Vermilion; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur G. Wilkes in 1976; a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Patricia) Sanders in 2005 and her parents, Elmer and Bernice G. (nee Farr) Johnson. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at noon at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Reverend Bob Daugherty will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
