Glen W. “Brownie” Brown, 89, of Birmingham, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Mercy New Life Hospice after a lengthy illness.
Born on December 4, 1935, in Shelby Forest, Tennessee, (Millington, TN). Glen later made Birmingham his home, where he built a life filled with hard work, adventure, and lasting friendships.
Glen proudly served in the National Guard for 10 years and as a volunteer firefighter for the Florence Township Fire Dept. He worked for many years at Ford Motor Company, Lorain, as a Tug Driver before retiring in 1987.
Glen was a devoted member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, as well as the Royal Arch Masons and the Lagrange Engine Club. His love for mechanics and machinery extended beyond work-he was an avid collector of John Deere tractors and toy dump trucks, often restoring John Deeres and attending tractor shows. His passion for adventure and travel led him to off-road Jeep racing across Ohio and Pennsylvania, traveling to events in their motor home. He and Jo enjoyed snow birding in Zephyrhills, Florida, for the past 21 years, where they formed cherished friendships and memories.
Left to honor his memory is his loving wife of 60 years, Jo Brown; along with three nieces, two nephews, and many of dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William David and Martha Jane (née McKee) Brown, as well as his brothers, William Major Brown, Marion Otis Brown, James Everett Brown, and Thomas Edward Brown; and sisters, Evelyn Beatrice Dean and Virgie HiIldagart Edwards.
A celebration of Brownie’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Florence Township Fire Department, 11017 Chapel St, Wakeman, OH 44889.
