Glenda Lee Akers (nee Kubach), 75, of Amherst, died Thursday, February 17, 2022 at home after a lengthy illness. She was born February 18, 1946 in Amherst, OH and had been a lifelong Amherst resident. Glenda worked for Oberlin Savings Bank as a bookkeeper for over 20 years retiring in 1991. She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ . She also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary America Legion Post #118. She enjoyed spending time with family, tending to her gardens, reading and short road trips. She was known as a sweet and wholesome character who enjoyed simple pleasures. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Akers of North Royalton; son, Bryan (Sarah) Akers of Lorain; and grandchildren, Deane and Evan Akers of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years , Eddie Dean Akers in 2019; parents, Russell and Olive (nee Holl) Kubach; her brother, Glen R. Kubach; and sister, Jean L. Kubach. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, from 12 noon until the time of the service at 1 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Reverend Jim Cooper will officiate. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
