Glenn R. Furr

Glenn R. Furr (nee Rowland), age 66, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at University Hospital in Cleveland after an 8-month illness with cancer and leukemia. She was born on November 11, 1936 in Tupelo, Mississippi and lived in Vermilion and Canton, Michigan. She graduated from Whitehaven High School, Memphis Tenn. She worked for Ford Motor Co, Lorain Assembly Plant and was later transferred to Central Accounting Services in Dearborn, Michigan until her retirement in 1998. She was a life member of AMVETS Auxiliary Post 22 in Vermilion where she served as secretery, Amherst Eagles, Vermilion VFW Post 7576, American Legion and Lakeview Baptist Church, Vermilion. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and was devoted to her family. She volunteered at Sandusky Veteran's Home, the Sandusky State Theatre and various AMVETS programs, including feeding the hungry. Survivors include her sons; Kevin Furr of Amherst, John Furr of Vermilion; daughter, Denise Furr-Amspaugh of Vermilion; Brothers, Steve Rowland of Port Charlotte, FL, John Rowland of Vermilion; sister, Betty Rowland of Venice, FL, Bobbie Foster of Norman, OK; grandchildren, Stephanie Mitchell, Shannon McGann, Brian Furr, John McCann and Brittany McCann; great-grandchild, Ethan Mitchell. Preceding her in death were her parents, John H. and Opal (nee Wooten) Rowland and a grandchild, Shawna McGann. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 30, 2003 from 2-4 / 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Funeral Services will be at 11:00am on Saturday at the funeral home. The Reverend Ed Mitchell will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
