Glenna Jean Cambarare (nee Blackford), age 74, of Lorain, died Sunday September 19, 2004 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following a courageous 16 year battle with breast cancer. She was born April 28, 1930 in Youngstown, Ohio but was a lifelong resident of Lorain. She graduated from Lorain High School Class of 1948 B. Mrs. Cambarare was a homemaker primarily, but prior to her marriage had worked in the office department of General Motors in Elyria. She was a member of St. John�s United Church of Christ and a long-time member of the ASPCA. She enjoyed caring for animals, flower gardening, garage sales, crocheting, and babysitting her grandson. Survivors include her daughters, Susan Cambarare and Lisa Saunders, both of Lorain, son Joseph Cambarare II of Cleveland, one grandson Dylan Saunders of Lorain, brother Glenn Blackford of Amherst, sister Shirley DesRochers of Tavares, Florida, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Joseph Cambarare in 1999, her mother Opal Blackford-Meyers in 1980, her stepfather Harry Meyers in 1969, and brothers Clarence and Jack Blackford. Friends may call Wednesday, September 22, 2004, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, and services will be Thursday, September 23, 2004 at 11 a.m., Rev. William Hainstock, Pastor of St. John�s United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Rill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp, Ohio. Memorial Contributions may be made to the New Life Hospice, 5255 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035-1450. Arrangements are under the direction of Cambarare Funeral Home, Inc., Cleveland.
