Gordon W. Britnell, 66, of Vermilion, died Monday, January 12, 2015 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a lengthy illness. Gordon was born December 25, 1948 in Woodstock, Ontario , Canada and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 2 years moving from Cambridge, OH. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during Vietnam and a Purple Heart recipient. Gordon worked for Ford Motor Co., Brook Park for 25 years retiring in 1995. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors hunting, fishing, and boating. He also enjoyed raising animals, but his true passion was collecting and shooting guns. He is survived by his son, Justin Britnell of Cleveland; daughters, Lisa (Michael) Wolf of Cleveland, Tina Britnell (Ronnie Stevens) of Brunswick, and Heather (Jonathon) Hodous of Vermilion; grandchildren, Kevin and Aria; brother, George (Sandra) Britnell of Strongsville; and sister, Sandra (Merle) Whited of Seville. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Catherine (nee Brooks) Britnell. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015 from 2:00 pm until the time of a memorial service at 4:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH with the Chaplin Christopher Robinson, officiating and the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
