Grover E. Simpson Jr., 72, of Vermilion, died Thursday, September 19, 2024 unexpectedly at his home.
He was born March 1, 1952 in Lexington, KY and had been a Vermilion resident most of his adult life, relocating to Michigan for 20 years, before returning home to Vermilion 10 years ago.
Grover dedicated 47 years working for Ford Motor Co as an Electrician.
He was known for his excellent sense of humor that brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. He was able to fix anything and was a skilled builder, building many models. He enjoyed gardening, reading, karaoke and camping. He will be remembered as a loving husband, dad, papaw, brother and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Norma Jean Simpson; children, Kathryn (John) Repko, Meagan (Stanley) Kreydin, Andrea (Michael) Thomas, Grover E. "Ed" Simpson III; grandchildren, Zachary (Chelsea) Repko, Caleb (Elizabeth) Repko, Seth Repko, Mia, Sarah and Alexander Kreydin, Ethan, Jacob and Samuel Thomas, Allison, and Grover E. "Eddie" Simpson IV; great grandchildren, Kallie, Gunner and Nora; siblings, Barbara (Gregory) Levine, Laurel Simpson, Kevin (Ivan Quesada) Simpson, Joseph (Gail) Simpson and Sydney Simpson Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Edwin Sr. and Lola Valerie (nee Bond) Simpson; and sister, Althea Kay Simpson.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 2:00 until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.
