Harold E. Bolyard, 89, of Vermilion, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Mercy Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 17, 1937, in Bretz, West Virginia, and had been a resident of Vermilion for the past 37 years, having moved there from Amherst.
Harold began his working career with Sterling Faucet in Reedsville, West Virginia, where he was employed for nine years. He later joined Ford Motor Company in Lorain, where he worked in the Booth Clean Department for 30 years before retiring in 1993.
He was a faithful member of Harbourtown Community Church, Vermilion and a past member of Family Fellowship Church in Amherst and was a member of UAW Locals #2000 and #425. Harold enjoyed reading the Bible, gardening, and repairing lawn mowers. He was known for his strong work ethic, quiet faith, and willingness to help others.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janet (née Farley) Bolyard of Vermilion; son, Kendall (Carolyn) Bolyard of Wellington, daughter-in-law, Pam Bolyard of Milan; grandchildren: Paul, Kendra, Austin, and Tyler; brothers, Bill (Dottie) Bolyard of Wakeman and Dave (Mary) Bolyard of Elyria; sisters, Eloise Smyth of Mountainville, West Virginia, Carma Vernon of Mount Vernon and Linda (Owen) McMillion of Delaware; many nieces and nephews including Becky (Randy) Crabtree and Chester Smith Jr., and David Smith; and his good friends, Tonda Siewert, Sue Griffith, Juanita and Red Hall, Tom and Emmett Resko, and Ernie and Earl Coultrip.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (Edna Ruth) Bolyard; son, Steven Bolyard; his parents, Harold Edwin and Dorothy (née Hartsell) Bolyard; sister, JoAnn Ashby; and his brother, Jerald Bolyard.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 10 am until the time of the funeral services at 12 noon at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH 44089 . The Reverend Ed Mitchell and Reverend Randy Crabtree will co-officiate. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in South Amherst.
