Harold J. LaCourse, 82, of Vermilion, died Friday, October 13, 2017 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a short illness. He was born May 17, 1935 in Martin, MI, and had been a life long Vermilion resident. Harold was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. He started his career at Ford Motor Co., Lorain in the Lead Booth moving to the Maintenance Department, retiring after 35 years. He was a life member of AMVETS Post #22 and a member of the Local Union #425. Harold enjoyed bowling and had participated on several Ford Bowling Leagues in Vermilion, fishing, hunting, and making bird houses. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Grace "Marie" (nee Price) LaCourse; son, Craig LaCourse of Vermilion; daughter, Peggy (Terry Blair) LaCourse; grandson who he raised, Terry (Megan) Dalehite of Indianapolis and grandson, Aaron Winborn of Lorain; great grandchildren: Myles Dalehite, and Kamari and Aaron Jr. Winborn; and his sisters, Sandra (Frank) Papp of Vermilion and Carole Rhodes of Houlka, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Lowell and Evelyn Marie (nee Williams ) LaCourse, sister Patricia Ann Gnagy; and his brothers, James and Gerald LaCourse. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 16, 2017 from 4 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 6 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct Military Honors just prior to the memorial service at 6:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place in Martin, MI at a later date.
