Harry Harvey Bratton, 93, of Vermilion, died Thursday, June 23, 2016 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center after a brief illness. Harry was born January 19, 1923 in Cleveland, and had been a Vermilion resident since 1989 moving from Seven Hills. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Normandy, Northern France, and the Rhineland during WWII. Harry worked construction and as an electrician for Local #38 IEBW, Cleveland. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Vermilion and the Vermilion VFW Post #7576. He was active with historical genealogy and enjoyed volunteering at Ritter Public Library. He also enjoyed traveling, camping, square dancing, helping with grounds keeping at Heidleberg Beach, and had attended Elderhostiles for over 30 years. He is survived by his daughter, Colletta (Bill) Lieber of O'Fallon, IL; sons, Raymond (Judy) Bratton of Santee, CA and Donald (Joy) Bratton of Lorain, OH; grandchildren: Beth Edwards, Matthew Lieber, Steven Bratton, Andy Bratton, Sharon Cumberland, Curtis Bratton and Rachel Pearson; and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta (nee Pretzer) Bratton in 2010; parents, Harry and Verda (nee Barnes) Bratton; and his sister, Margaret Dudgeon. Bratton family invites you to join them for two special gatherings, Saturday, August 13th at 10 am at Brecksville Cemetery, 9012 Highland Drive, Brecksville, Ohio where Harry will be laid to rest, followed by 2 pm gathering to celebrate Harry's life at Wesleyan Village, 807 West Avenue, Elyria, Ohio.
