Helen Barbara Baniecki

April 8, 1918 — January 7, 2015

Helen Barbara Baniecki (nee Pavlin), 96, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Mill Manor Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Helen was born April 8, 1918 in Anvil Location, MI, and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 21 years moving from Mather, PA. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1937 and worked as a telephone operator for Green County Memorial Hospital for 26 years. She enjoyed helping her family run Molly's Vineyard, Vermilion for 37 years. She was a member of St. Marcellus Catholic Church, Jefferson, PA, and St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion where she was involved with the Altar Rosary Society. She had also been a member of the Senior Centers of Jefferson, PA and Vermilion, the Green County Country Club, and the Croatian Club, Lorain. Helen enjoyed making her famous grape jelly, golfing, bowling, playing cards, and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. She is survived by her, daughter, Connie (Pat) O'Leary of Vermilion; sons, Louis (Nancy) Baniecki of Chandler, AZ and Fred (Debbie) Baniecki of Las Vegas, NV; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and sister, Betty Konosky of Mather, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Frank Baniecki; parents, John and Barbara (nee Scyko) Pavlin; brothers, John and Joe Pavlin; and sisters, Anna Lonchar, Mary Margetich, and Katie Sustrick. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 12:30 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange St., Vermilion. The Reverend Ronald Brickner will officiate.
