Helen L. Gardinier

Helen L. Gardinier, 87, of Lorain, died Saturday, April 15, 2006, at Ohio Extended Care Center, Lorain. She was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and lived in Vermilion for more than 30 years. She had also lived in Amherst. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion, and its Altar and Rosary Society, and also attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst. She was a member of the Eagles Club in Huron. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, playing cards and bingo. Survivors include daughters Nancy Forman and Kathleen Gardinier, both of Amherst; a son, Francis A. Gardinier of Vermilion; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Gardinier in 1976; her parents, Archie and Inez Forichette; sons Paul and James Gardinier; a daughter, Helen Hancock; and several brothers and sisters. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion. Prayers will be said at the funeral home 11 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange St., Vermilion. The Rev. Jim Holmer will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
