Helen C. Phillips (nee Jenkins), 82, of Vermilion, died Friday, March 2, 2012 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain. Helen was born October 1, 1929 in Atlanta, GA. She had lived in the Vermilion area over 43 years. She had also lived in Elyria and Amherst. Helen worked as a machinist for Nordson Corporation, Amherst for over 25 years. She was a member of AMVETS Auxiliary Post 22 where she was involved in Sacketts and the American Legion. She bowled on the Monday Nite Ladies League at Lake Erie Lanes and volunteered for many years at the Murray Ridge Center and the Soldiers and Sailors Home. She enjoyed traveling, playing bingo and going to different casinos. She especially loved spending time with her family and helping others. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, William Phillips; sons, Randy Phillips of Jacksonville, FL, Mark Phillips of Ashland,and Terry Phillips of Cincinnati; daughters, Nancy Phillips of Kipton, Wendy (Jeff) Henderson of Perrysville, and Lori (David "Rudy") Graham of New London; 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Frances Hemrick, Margaret Paris, and Shirley McCurry, all of Atlanta, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Cleo (nee Berry) Jenkins, 4 brothers, Larry, Jerry, Marvin and C.G Jenkins; and a sister, Lucille Powell. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 5, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the funeral home at 11 a.m. The Reverend Lee Stull, Pastor of Kipton Community Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Rugby Cemetery, Brownhelm Township. The family suggests memorial contributions to Alzheimer's Association Northwest Ohio Chapter, 2500 North Reynolds Road, Toledo, OH 43615-2820.
