Henry 'Hank' Fischer

Henry "Hank" Fischer, 100, of Vermilion, died Friday, August 15, 2014 at his son's home. Henry was born November 1, 1913 in Florence, OH and had been a life long Vermilion resident. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard serving during WWII. Henry had an accounting degree from Spencerian College in Cleveland. He worked as a diesel mechanic where he was shift supervisor for Warner-Swasey, Cleveland,. He also worked for the Sharpnack Chevrolet dealership in Vermilion. He was a member of Amherst Park Avenue Methodist Church and AMVETS Post #22. He was a Mason and a member of the Rentelfen Lodge and Ely Masonic Lodge. He was Worthy Patron of the Eastern Stars. He enjoyed collecting mustache cups. He is survived by his son, David Fischer of Vermilion; grandchildren, Katie Fischer-Lalonde, Sondra Fischer, and Scott Fischer; and great grandchildren, Aubree, Maliq, Avana, Blake, and Bangaly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary (nee Tetzloff) Fischer; son, James Fischer; 9 sisters and brothers, and his companion, Genevieve Mae Clark. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Amherst Park Avenue United Methodist Church, 396 Park Ave, Amherst, Ohio. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion with the Vermilion Veterans council conducting military honors. The Reverends Louis Bertoni and Dan Reinke will co officiate. The family suggests memorial contributions to Amherst Park Avenue United Methodist Church, 396 Park Ave., Amherst, Ohio 44001.
