Henry J. Golembiewski, 77 of Birmingham, died Thursday, June 8, 2006 at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland as a result of an automobile accident. He was born January 19, 1929 in Dixon, PA. He has been a Birmingham resident for the past 50 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean conflict. He worked as a receiving inspector for the Ford Motor Company in Lorain for 52 years, retiring in 2002. He was a volunteer fireman and EMT for Florence Township, a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion, a former boy scout leader and enjoyed wood working and gardening. He is survived by his 2 sons, Mark Golembiewski of Wakeman and Greg Golembiewski of Henrietta Twp.; daughters, Beverly Hopewell of Birmingham, Barbara Shelton of Vermilion and Sarah Staller of Amherst; 2 grandchildren; brothers, Frank and John and sisters, Helen, Frances and Marie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverley (nee McLauglin) in 1999 and his parents, Frank and Josephine Golembieski. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home, Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at 11:00 am followed by an 11:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. The Reverend Jim Holmer, pastor, will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Florence Township Cemetery. The Vermilion Veteran council will conduct military honors.
