Hubert A. 'Newfie' Bartlett

Hubert A "Newfie" Bartlett, 85, of Vermilion, died Sunday, January 22, 2012 at after a lengthy illness. Hubert was born July 5, 1926 in St. Johns, Newfoundland, he had been a Vermilion resident for the past 62 years, moving from Canada. When Newfie first moved to Vermilion he worked for Falbo Construction and then he owned Bartlett Construction Co. for over 30 years. He was a life member of the Vermilion AMVETS Post #22, American Legion #397, VFW Post 7576 and International Union of Operating Engineers Local #18. He enjoyed socializing, and most of all his life long Labrador companion Skippy-Doodle. He is survived by his daughters, Ann (Gary) Dowell, Christine Bell both of Huron and Cynthia (Bill) Wilson all of Vermilion, son, Hubert J. Bartlett of Huron, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, sisters, Ivy Gruchy of Sandusky, Betty Noseworthy of Delaware, Daphne Dzonkowski of Maryland, and Fern Delamater of Huron. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith (nee Paulson) Bartlett on Sept. 9, 2008, parents, Hedley & Emma May (nee Ash) Bartlett, brothers, Bertram, Angus, & Vonnie Bartlett, and sister, Annie Audrey Bartlett, infant siblings, Olive Lela and Jacob Bartlett, The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 11 am Riddle Funeral Home The Reverend James Peter officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery,Vermilion.
