Ida Ruth Coolidge

April 21, 1920 — February 27, 2011

Ida Ruth Coolidge (nee Laurence), 90, of Vermilion, died Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a short illness. She was born April 21, 1920 in Cleveland and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 40 years moving from Euclid. During WWII Ida worked as a riveter on B-29 bomber wings at the bomber plant (IX Center) in Cleveland. She was a member of AMVETS Post #22, Vermilion. From 1980-1998 she was the first mate on the Windstar which was her and her husband's boat, that they sailed throughout the Caribbean. She also enjoyed art, especially portraiture and ceramics. She is survived by her son, Dennis (Julie) Coolidge of Perrysburg, OH; daughter, Judi Coolidge of Avon Lake, grandchildren: Chad Coolidge, Rian Watts, Scott Coolidge, Bryan (Amy) Coolidge, Adam (Melissa) Coolidge, and Erick Bielefeld; great grandchildren, Dean, Chloe, Kobe, and Zak; and a sister, Audrey Ballinger of Strongsville. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Coolidge in 1997; parents Oliver and Florence (nee Hatch) Laurence; son, Dean Coolidge; and a sister, Betty Willett. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 12 Noon until the time of a Memorial Service at 1:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. The Reverend Scott Estep will officiate. Private inurnment will take place at Lakewood Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Salvation Army 320 Aldrich Rd .
