Ilah O'Doherty

Ilah O'Doherty (nee Lang), 85, of Vermilion, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012 at her residence after a lengthy illness. Ilah was born October 29, 1926 in Sandusky and had been a Vermilion resident since 1963. She graduated from Sandusky High School, and attended Ohio State University. Ilah was the Welcome Wagon Hostess in Vermilion from 1965 to 1975. She was a member and Past President of the Vermilion Women's League, and was also their Past District President. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Vermilion Boat Club, First Ladies Golf League, and the Bridge-O-Rama Club. For 20 years she managed the pool and club house at Crystal Cove Condominiums. She enjoyed golfing, boating, and spending time with her family. Ilah is survived by her husband David; son Jack (Kim) Bright II of Catawba Island; sisters-in-law Mary Lang of Sandusky, Lucy Ann Fayle of Derry, NH, and Barbara O'Doherty of Wellesley, MA; 15 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Emil and Viola (Heyman) Lang, daughter Ilah Christofel, and brother Emil "Sonny" Lang Jr. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church 731 Exchange St., Vermilion. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Ilah's memory to a charity of the donor's choice. Riddle Funeral Home 5345 South St., Vermilion is assisting the family with arrangements.
