Irene M. Kokinda, 82 of Amherst, died Tuesday, March 27, 2007 in Golden Acres Nursing Home in Amherst. She was born February 23, 1925 in Kamna Gorica, Slovenia, moving to the United States in 1950. She had lived both in Lorain and Amherst. She was a devoted mother and homemaker and a longtime member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Slovenian Church in Lorain, where she was active in the church choir. She is survived by her sons, Vlad Pogacnik of Houston, Texas and Michael Drvodelich of Panama City, Florida; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson; sister, Barbara Buta-Dempsey of Phoenix, Arizona; brother, Joseph Pogacnik of Bedford, England. She was preceded-in-death by her 1st husband, Michael Drvodelich, 2nd husband, Joseph Kokinda and parents, Lovro and Jozefa Pogacnik. Friends may call on Monday, April 2, 2007 from 11:00am until the time of service at 2:00pm at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Paul Krajnik, pastor of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Slovenian Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
