Jack L. Valentine, 74, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Elyria Memorial Hospital after complications due to a lengthy illness with Multiple Sclerosis. Born August 18, 1936 in Bradford, PA, he had been a Vermilion resident for the past 34 years moving from Cleveland. He was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1959 to 1962. Jack worked for Glidden Paint Co., Huron as a quality control technician for 37 years retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion and enjoyed model railroading, stamp collecting, watching CNN, listening to books on tapes, he enjoyed Suze Orman show and following the Cleveland Indians. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Mary (nee Cencula) Valentine; sons, Matthew (Marilynn) Valentine of Grand Rapids, MI and Mark (Sara) Valentine of North Ridgeville; granddaughter, Makayla; and brother, Tom Valentine of Sterling Hts., MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Anne (nee Pelino) Valentine. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 29, 2011 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion OH. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 8:30 am followed by a 9:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. Father Ron Brickner and Reverend Fr. Leonard Cencula will concelebrate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
