Jacqueline M Raider

March 7, 1939 — January 5, 2025

Jacqueline "Jaci" M. Raider, 85, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, at New Life Hospice after a lengthy illness.

Born on March 7, 1939, in Solon, Ohio, Jaci grew up in Valley City. She spent 40 years living in Columbus, where she worked for the Democratic Caucus at the State House. After retiring in 2019, Jaci moved to Vermilion to reside in "The Cottage," a home she cherished for its proximity to the beach and serene lake views from her porch.

Jaci found joy in spending time with her family and friends, shopping, and decorating her beloved Cottage. She had a passion for gardening and flowers and took pride in creating a welcoming and stylish home. Known for her vibrant personality, impeccable sense of fashion, and love for decorating, Jaci lit up every room she entered. She was an enthusiastic supporter of her grandchildren’s activities and a loyal fan of the Cleveland Guardians, the Browns, and Ohio State football.

Jaci was preceded in death by her parents, Norbert and Emma Matt; her brother, David Matt; and her sister, Joyce Schwind.

She is survived by her sons, Rob (Jody) Raider of Vermilion and Paul (Shannon) Raider of Amherst; her cherished grandchildren, Ryan Raider, Jake Raider, Grant Raider, Elizabeth Raider, Eli Raider, Brad Rider, Gabriella Gerber, and Cara Walsh; and her great-grandchild, Wyatt Raider. She is also survived by her sister, Joan Matt of Medina, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may gather on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of  the Mass of Christian Burial  at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Parish, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, Ohio. A private burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
