James W. Allen, Jr., age 56, of Vermilion, died Friday, June 13, 2003 at his home following a legnthy illness. He was born on May 31, 1947 in Memphis, TN and has been a Vermilion resident most of his life. He worked as a dispatcher for Gemini Trucking for the past 3 years. He also worked for the Ford Motor Company, Balsam Concrete and drove truck for CTI. A multi-talented musician, he played various instruments in many bands. He was also a Harley-Davidson enthusiast. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Vermilion where he worked the sound board for services. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. Survivors include his daughter, Sonya Williamson of Lakeland, Florida; mother, Myrtle Allen (nee Cox) of Lakeland, Florida; brother, Charles "Mike" Allen of Elyria; grandchildren, Tanner Adams, Jessica Good and Zack Williamson; girlfriend, Kaye Joldersma of Louisville, KY; many special friends. He was preceded-in-death by his father, James W. Allen, Sr, and sons, Danny and Brian Allen. Friends may call on Monday, June 16, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, where a Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at 11:00 am. The Reverend Ed Mitchell will officiate.
