James D. Bodzash, 59, of Lorain, died unexpectedly at Community Health Partners Regional Medical Center on Saturday, July 19, 2008 while recovering from a recent illness. He was born on July 26, 1948 in Lorain and graduated from Admiral King High School in 1966. He entered the United States Marine Corp on June 29, 1966 and served during the Vietnam War until his discharge on June 28, 1969. He was the recipient of 2 Purple Heart awards for wounds received during his service. Upon his return to Lorain, he worked a few years at the US Steel Company in many capacities, including work in the power house and as a pipe fitter helper. Jim then worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Avon Lake until retiring within the past few years. He will be remembered as an avid reader and having enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his mother, Irene Bodzash (nee Stankura) of Amherst; twin-sister, Dawn Wesley of Lorain; brother, Dennis Bodzash of Amherst; a neice, nephew and 3 great-nieces and nephews. He was proceded-in-death by his father, James M. Bodzash in 1980. The Bodzash family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 from 6-9 pm at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 10:00 am. Life Celebrant, Matthew Humphrey, will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow.
