James S. Broeckel, 68, of Vermilion, made his journey into heaven Monday, November 7, 2011 after a one year illness. He crossed over peacefully while he was surrounded by his wife and all of his children. James was born March 12, 1943 in Cleveland, and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 40 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army. James worked for E & L Transport as an over the road truck driver for 40 years He attended Lakeview Baptist Church in Vermilion and was a member of AMVETS Post 22. He enjoyed woodworking, being with his family and playing cards. He also volunteered for Mercy Hospital in the thrift shop. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy (nee Wooten) Broeckel; sons, Jerry (Lena) Broeckel of Vermilion, and Fred (Yvette) Broeckel of Seattle, WA; daughters, Lorie (Rachell) Broeckel of Cape Coral, FL, Debbie (Chris) Petrunyak of Colorado Springs, CO, Sherrie (Jack) Craddock of Amherst, and Kristen Broeckel of Vermilion; 15 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, John (Karen) Broeckel, Sheffield Lake and Dave Broeckel of Vermilion; and a sister, Sharen (Dan) Seiwerth of Chicago. He was preceded in death by parents, James and Stella Lorena (nee Wilson) Broeckel, a son, James S. "Jimbo" Broeckel II, grandson, Collin Craddock, and sister, June Yerkic The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 from 4-7 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 11 am at Lakeview Baptist Church, 591 Ferndale Avenue, Vermilion. The Reverend Cliff Morris officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. The family suggests memorial contributions to Lakeview Baptist Church, 591 Ferndale Avenue, Vermilion, Ohio 44089.
