James R. Conaway, 87, of Lorain, died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home. He was born September 28, 1924 in Bridgeport, OH. James was a veteran of the United States Army having served during W.W. II and the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a Brakeman for Conrail retiring in November 1985. He was a member of the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, and a lifetime member of the Lorain American Legion Post # 30. James is survived by his wife Nancy (nee Towner); brother Paul Thomas Conaway of West Virginia; niece's Pearl Conaway of Lorain, and Jackie Covelli of Illinois, and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews that loved him dearly; step-daughter Janet Gorbey; step-granddaughters Lisa, Isabelle, and Santanna Gorbey. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Pearl (nee Ochsenbein) Conaway, brothers William Jr., and Earl Conaway, sister's Norma Candow, and Connie Conaway, and niece Deborah Conaway. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 2nd from 12 noon till 1:00 P.M. followed by a funeral service at 1:00 P.M. at the Dombrowski-Riddle Funeral Home 1939 Oberlin Ave., Lorain Interment with Military honors will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, OH.
