James Earl Cooper, aged 92, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, at Mill Manor Nursing Home in Vermilion, following a lengthy illness.
Born on September 26, 1931, in Andalusia, AL, Earl resided in Amherst for the last 21 years after relocating from Vermilion. His career spanned 30 years at Ford Motor Co., Avon Lake, where he served as a utility man and contributed to the paint repair department before retiring in 1990.
Earl was a member of Harbourtown Community Church in Vermilion and found joy in pursuits such as fishing, woodworking, gardening and crafting.
Earl leaves behind a legacy cherished by his sons: Jim (Joyce) Cooper of Amherst, John (Audrey) Cooper of Bradenton, FL, and Jay (Tonia) Cooper of South Carolina; grandchildren: Jim Jr. (Heidi), Mark (Lynn), and Jeremy; step-granddaughter, Megan; and his great-grandchildren: Javan, Carter, Saydie, Elijah, Bella, and Lola.
He is reunited in peace with his wife Janis Cooper, who passed away in 2022, as well as his parents, John and Maggie Belle (nee Hobson) Cooper; son, Jeffery Cooper (1965); grandson, David Cooper, sisters, Isabelle Lawson, Cora Lee Robinson and Berla Mae Norris; brothers, Clyde and John Adrian Cooper and his daughter-in-law, Shirlee Cooper.
Friends may call Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 5:00 p.m. at Harbourtown Community Church, 873 State Street, Vermilion, OH 44089. Private inurnment will take place at Rugby Cemetery at a later date.
