James R. Crombie, 93, of Vermilion, died Friday, November 25, 2022 at Kingston Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
He was born February 7, 1929 in Amherst, OH and had been a lifelong Vermilion resident.
James was a graduate of Brownhelm High School in 1947 and worked for Freuhauff Trailer for 23 years as foreman, then worked in life insurance sales, then became licensed in Real Estate sales, and was Assistant Plant Manager for TriAd Metal Products in Cleveland. He worked for MRDD for 18 years.
He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, Gideons International and the Volunteer Sherriff Auxillary. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather and faithful friend. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and horses- at one time he cared for over 20 horses at his own stable. He was an avid reader, he especially enjoyed reading the bible.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Naomi "Louise" Crombie of Vermilion, OH, daughter, Karen Crombie of Wooster, OH, step daughter, Vicki Kirk of Vermilion; step sons, Steven (Patty) Burks of Henderson, TN, and Gregory (Julie) Burks of ME; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Leona Antonia (nee Sterna) Crombie and sister, Mary Jane Root.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 12 Noon Lakeview Baptist Church, 591 Ferndale Avenue, Vermilion. The Reverend Cliff Morris will officiate. Interment will follow at Brownhelm Cemetery.
